Summary
The Prep Cook is responsible for preparing ingredients and assisting in the kitchen to ensure efficient food production and high-quality dishes. This role supports the culinary team by maintaining organization, cleanliness, and food safety standards while preparing items according to recipes and specifications.
Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients including chopping, slicing, dicing, and measuring
- Follow recipes and portion guidelines to ensure consistency
- Assist cooks and chefs with food preparation as needed
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment
- Properly store food and label items according to food safety standards
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages to leadership
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Assist with receiving and storing deliveries
- Follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines
- Support team members to ensure timely service
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High school completion or equivalent required
- Food Handler Certification required or willingness to obtain
- Ability to read, write, comprehend, and speak English
- Ability to perform basic mathematical operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
- Previous kitchen or food preparation experience preferred
- Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and organization
- Ability to follow instructions and recipes accurately
- Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to stand for long periods
- Physical mobility with reasonable accommodations including ability to push, pull, carry and lift up to 50 pounds
