Job summary

Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens, Inc. seeks a Child and Family Educator to lead the Early Head Start Prenatal Program. You will guide expectant parents through pregnancy with home visits, sharing information on fetal development, nutrition, labor and breastfeeding.

The role manages a caseload of 12 expectant mothers, conducts weekly visits, coordinates health and development services, and supports group socialization twice monthly to promote family engagement and school readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
• At least one year of experience with ages 0–3 in educational settings.
• Bilingual skills preferred: Spanish/English or other languages.
• Ability to lift 25 lbs and travel within the five boroughs as needed.

Responsibilities

• Conduct weekly home visits with each family and deliver health, educational, nutritional and child growth and development information to parents via weekly meetings.
• Coordinate with parents to ensure prenatal, well-child exams, immunizations, health screenings, and nutrition assessments are complete and follow-ups occur.
• Complete family partnership agreements, developmental screenings and all required assessments with families in a timely manner.
• Provide support in parent and child activities that encourages developmentally appropriate activities for changing needs of infants and toddlers.
• Contributes to designing and delivering Early Child Development training to parents, staff and FCC Providers.
• Participate in annual Program Self-Assessment and follow-up reporting.
• Maintain accurate written/electronic records including: TSG assessments, IFSP documentation, screening instruments, Lesson Plans, and other forms.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
