Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens invites applications for a Child and Family Educator (CFE) within the Early Head Start Prenatal Program. You will guide pregnant families through education, nutrition, and health topics during weekly home visits, preparing for healthy births and successful transitions after birth.
The role requires a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education or related field, 0–3 experience, and bilingual preferences.

The prenatal period of growth and development has a lasting impact on the child’s potential for healthy growth and development after birth. Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens provides comprehensive services to low-income pregnant women and their families based on their needs through the child’s first year of life. After birth, the child receives first preference to be enrolled in our free Family Child Care or Center-Based Early Head Start Program options.
The Child and Family Educator (CFE) is responsible for the Early Head Start Prenatal Program in assisting Parents with preparing for their new baby. The CFE will help guide participants through pregnancy and prepare you for a successful, healthy birth of their infant through home visits. The CFE will provide information regarding fetal development, nutrition, labor, delivery, and breastfeeding to expectant mothers. The CFE is responsible for assisting in the smooth transition for participant’s baby by expanding their support system to include family, friends, and other community resources. The EHS Pregnant Mothers visitors will complete weekly home visits with (30) pregnant mothers and families. The CFE will have a case load of 12 expectant mothers. During the course of these visits, home visitors will provide parent education as well as education to the child within the parameters of the Head Start school readiness goals. The CFE Home visitors will also plan for and complete group socialization twice per month to encourage social interaction with children on the caseload.
