Job summary

Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens, Inc. seeks a Child and Family Educator (CFE) to lead the Early Head Start Prenatal Program.

You will guide pregnant participants through pregnancy and prepare for a healthy birth via home visits, sharing information on fetal development, nutrition, labor, delivery, and breastfeeding. The CFE will support families, expand their networks, complete weekly home visits for up to 12 expectant mothers, and plan group socialization twice monthly to foster child

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or Early Childhood Development, Early Intervention or related field.
• Course work as part of a Bachelor Degree in Education, Social Work, or related concentration and health education, maternal and child health, or health administration.

Responsibilities

• Conduct weekly home visits with each family and deliver health, educational, nutritional and child growth and development information to parents via weekly meetings.
• Coordinate with parents to ensure that prenatal, well-child exams, immunizations, health screenings, and nutrition assessments are complete and necessary follow up occurs.
• Complete family partnership agreements, developmental screenings and all other required assessments with families in a timely manner.
• Provide support in parent and child activities that encourages developmentally appropriate activities for the changing needs of infants and toddlers.
• Provides input in designing and delivery of Early Child Development training to parents, staff and FCC Providers
• As part of the team coordinates the annual Program Self-Assessment and the follow-up reporting.
• Maintain accurate written/electronic records including: TSG assessments, IFSP documentation, screening instruments, Lesson Plans, and other required forms.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
