Job summary

Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens invites applications for a Child and Family Educator (CFE) within the Early Head Start Prenatal Program. You will guide pregnant families through education, nutrition, and health topics during weekly home visits, preparing for healthy births and successful transitions after birth.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education or related field, 0–3 experience, and bilingual preferences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field; coursework in ECE/child development and health education.
• At least one year of related experience with ages 0–3 through work, practicum, student teaching, or volunteering.
• Bilingual Spanish/English; Russian/English; Chinese/English; Korean/English; English/Creole preferred.
• Ability to lift 25 lbs and travel throughout the five boroughs as needed.

Responsibilities

• Conduct weekly home visits delivering health, educational, nutritional, and child growth information.
• Coordinate prenatal and well-child exams, immunizations, health screenings, and nutrition follow-up.
• Complete family partnership agreements, developmental screenings, and required assessments.
• Provide parent-child activity support aligned with Early Head Start goals.
• Contribute to Early Child Development training design for families and staff.
• Assist in annual self-assessment and follow-up reporting.
• Maintain accurate records (TSG, IFSP, forms and lesson plans).
• Perform other duties as assigned.
