Job summary

The St. Martin Parish School Board is seeking an Instructional Paraprofessional to support certified staff and assist students with reading, math, language arts, and computer instruction.

Under direct supervision, you will help implement instructional programs, supervise non-instructional activities, and help with classroom preparations. Responsibilities include record-keeping, behavior management, field trips supervision, and assisting with parent contact to foster involvement.

Qualifications

• Passing score on ParaPro Assessment or college English hours as described.
• College coursework: at least 9 English hours (3 in writing) and 6 Math hours.
• Experience with diverse or special needs students is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist students and guide them to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics and computer instruction.
• Work with students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning.
• Assist staff with tests, assessments and classroom activities.
• Help with materials prep and documentation of student learning.
• Support classroom behavior management and ensure a safe environment.
• Supervise non-instructional activities (lunch, bus, playground, study hall).
• Accompany students on field trips and assist with supervision.
• Communicate with parents to foster involvement in education.
