Job summary

Dayton School Department is seeking an Educational Technician III to provide full-time classroom support for Pre Kindergarten. You will work alongside the classroom teacher to support a class of 16 students throughout the year-long PreK program.

Qualifications

• Certification as an Education Technician from the Maine Department of Education.
• Education appropriate for Ed Technician Certification Level.
• Experience working with students.

Responsibilities

• Review and reinforce learning previously introduced by the classroom or special education teacher and assist in drill and practice activities.
• Participate in required workshops by request of Building Leader, Supervisor, or Director.
• Perform non-instructional, non-evaluating functions including suspension of students.
• Assist in preparation of instructional materials or provide classroom management functions during emergencies.
• Alerts teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student.
• Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information.
• Participates in staff meetings as needed.
• Meet with the special education teacher and receive instruction/direction on a regular basis.
• Perform short-term instruction and classroom management activities with indirect professional supervision.
• Supervise small groups of students in community-based programs with indirect professional supervision.
• Other job-related duties as assigned by the Cooperating Teacher or Building Leader.
