Pre‑Construction Manager
The Pre‑Construction Manager is responsible for running major projects and developing new business opportunities with new and existing customers.
What you’ll do
- Maintain a thorough project details list that describes the project trail.
- Plan and organize a project, acting as a “Pursuit Leader.”
- Understand the company’s philosophy, systems, objectives, policies, procedures and performance standards.
- Maintain liaison with the prime client and A/E to facilitate construction activities.
- Represent the company in project meetings.
- Supervise the preparation of pricing quotations for presentation to the prime customer.
- Manage financial aspects of contracts to protect the company’s interests while maintaining good relationships with clients.
- Assume additional responsibilities as directed by corporate executives.
- Overall duties describe the general nature and scope of work; other duties may be assigned as required.
What you’ll need to be successful
- Knowledge of construction technology, scheduling, equipment and methods required.
- Excellent communication skills with owners, architects and design consultants.
- Understanding of design project types and concepts including design‑build, design assist, IPD, Lean and LEED.
- Self‑starter and ability to make independent decisions affecting profitability.
- Knowledge of Northwest and Portland metro area construction markets (a plus).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel); Oracle preferred.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, adjust priorities as needed.
- Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Self‑motivated, proactive, and an effective team player.
- Professional interaction with all levels of employees, vendors, clients, and others.
What you bring to us
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or related discipline.
- Minimum five years of experience in the construction industry; electrical contractor experience preferred.
- Combination of education, training and relevant experience is acceptable.
Travel
Working Conditions
- General work environment involving sitting, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending; primarily indoors with fluorescent lighting and air conditioning.
- Noise level usually low to medium; can be loud on the job site.
- Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
