Job summary

Rosendin in Oregon seeks a Senior Preconstruction Manager to prepare major projects for Operations and to grow new business through relationships with general contractors, consultants, trade partners, and owners. This role emphasizes design-build and engineered jobs, overseeing Pre-Construction Managers activities.

You will plan design, review cost savings, manage pricing and quotations, and maintain liaison with design teams until award and hand-off to Operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related discipline.
  • Minimum 12 years in construction; ideally with an electrical contractor.
  • Strong business development and client interaction skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office; Oracle and Accubid experience preferred.
  • Ability to mentor and lead others.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a thorough project details list from bridging documents to pricing and proposals.
  • Plan and organize design efforts including client design meetings to review cost and constructability.
  • Align with company policies and systems objectives within corporate guidelines.

YOUR NEXT OPPORTUNITY:

The Senior Preconstruction Manager is responsible for preparing major projects for Operations with the capabilities and personality to develop new business opportunities by building relationships with general contractors, consultants, trade partners, and owners. This role will primarily focus on design-build and may also include engineered jobs including overseeing the Pre-Construction Managers activities

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  • Maintain a thorough project details list that includes bridging documents, design and/or drawing updates, through pricing and proposal submission
  • Strategically plan and organize the design of the project, including attending client design meetings to review cost savings and construct-ability.
  • Understand the company's philosophy and systems objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within the boundaries of corporate policies.
  • Maintain liaison with the design team and operations until the project is awarded. Successful hand off of the project to Operations team. Supervise the preparation of all pricing quotations for presentation to the prime customer.
  • Actively manage the workload, professional development, and client development skills of the preconstruction staff
  • Analyze available preconstruction personnel and make specific project assignments to meet the pursuit
  • During preconstruction, manage the financial aspects of contracts to protect the company's interest while maintaining good relationships with the clients
  • The duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work . This is not a complete list of all the duties this position performs; other duties will be assigned based on the position's role within the business unit.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
  • Knowledge of construction technology, scheduling, equipment, and methods required
  • Excellent communication skills with owners, architects, and design consultants
  • Thorough understanding of several types of design projects and concepts including; design build, design assist, IPD, Lean and LEED
  • Self-starter
  • Make independent decisions and recommendations that may greatly affect profitability of assigned area
  • Knowledge of Northwest and Portland Metro area construction markets would be a plus
  • Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.); Oracle preferred
  • Prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary
  • Work under pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude
  • Oral and written communication skills as required for the position
WHAT YOU BRING TO US:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or other related discipline
  • Minimum 12 years' experience in construction industry; preferably with an electrical contractor ; knowledge of construction technology
  • Business development/heavy client interaction
  • Can be a combination of education, training, and relevant experience
  • Proven experience mentoring and managing others.
  • Ability to understand and follow standard operating policies and procedures;
  • Ability to perform duties in a professional manner and appearance
  • Extensive knowledge of safety protocols and procedure
  • Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.); Oracle and Accubid preferred
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary
  • Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude
  • Effective oral and written communication skills as required for the position
  • Ability to be self-motivated, proactive and an effective team player
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others
TRAVEL:
  • 10% to 25%
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • General work environment - sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending. Work is conducted primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning
  • Noise level is usually low to medium; it can be loud on the jobsite.
