Job summary

Sumitomo Electric Carbide Manufacturing in Wisconsin is seeking a Wire EDM Operator/Programmer to produce high-precision components. You will set up and operate Wire EDM/Vollmer machines, perform PCD and carbide cutting, and ensure tight tolerances through careful adjustments.

Responsibilities include developing CNC programs from drawings, maintaining equipment, and coordinating with maintenance staff. A background with FANUC/Sodick and strong problem-solving skills are required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Wire EDM operator/programmer (1+ years) with FANUC/Sodick.
• Knowledge of machine shop practices, techniques and operations.
• Ability to communicate effectively and follow directions.
• Strong basic math, logical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
• Capable of lifting up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate Wire EDM/Vollmer machines to produce high-precision components.
• PCD and carbide cutting.
• Monitor machine performance, make adjustments and troubleshoot for continuous production.
• Load/unload work pieces, install and align tooling, perform necessary machine adjustments.
• Develop and optimize CNC programs for Wire EDM/Vollmer machines based on drawings and specs.
• Make adjustments to maintain tight tolerances and high-quality standards.
• Conduct routine maintenance on Wire EDM/Vollmer machines to ensure optimal performance.
• Identify and report equipment issues to maintenance staff for timely resolution.
