Job summary

Sumitomo Electric Carbide Manufacturing seeks a skilled Wire EDM Operator/Programmer to join our production team in Wisconsin. You will set up, operate, and optimize Wire EDM/Vollmer machines (FANUC/Sodick) to manufacture high-precision carbide components.

You will develop CNC programs from engineering drawings, monitor performance, maintain tight tolerances, and perform routine maintenance while reporting issues to maintenance. This role requires accuracy, reliability, and physical capability.

Qualifications

1+ years of experience as a Wire EDM Operator/Programmer with FANUC or Sodick.
Knowledge of machine shop practices and operations.
Effective communication skills.
Ability to follow directions.
Basic math, logical reasoning and problem solving.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate Wire EDM/Vollmer machines (FANUC/Sodick) to produce high-precision components.
Cutting carbide and PCD.
Monitor machine performance, adjust as needed, troubleshoot to maintain production.
Load and unload workpieces, install and align tooling, perform machine adjustments.
Develop and optimize CNC programs for Wire EDM/Vollmer based on drawings and specifications.
Maintain tight tolerances and high-quality standards.
Conduct routine maintenance on Wire EDM/Vollmer machines to ensure optimal performance.
Identify and report equipment issues to maintenance promptly.
