Job summary

Barnes Aerospace in Warren, MI is seeking a skilled welder/assembler to join our fabrication team. You will prepare materials, read blueprints, set up weld machines, and inspect welds and parts for quality.

Work involves fixtures, turntables, and occasional grinding. A high school diploma and basic welding experience are required, along with strong math and MS Office skills. Valid US passport preferred for travel if needed.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of basic welding/metallurgy experience.
• Proficient in Excel and math skills.
• Read, interpret and follow work instructions.
• Capable of using standard bench tools and gauges.
• Operate computer-controlled machines and adjust programs.
• Prepare and evaluate weld samples and process controls.
• Maintain neat, orderly workstation and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Prepare materials for welding; cuts, grinds and cleans metal.
• Read weld blueprints, drawings, and follow work orders.
• Set up welding machines for materials, thicknesses, and positions.
• Use weld fixtures and weld positioners (turntable).
• Dimensionally inspect welds with calipers, protractors, gauges.
• Inspect parts for defects and tag non-conforming parts for rework.
• Assist with belt and hand grinding as needed.
• Complete logs and paperwork for each job performed.
• Follow safety guidelines and wear PPE.
• Maintain compliance with MB Aerospace policies and training.
