Job summary

Amsted Automotive Group seeks a Journeyman Tool & Die Maker to design, manufacture, and maintain tooling for our production processes. This second-shift role runs 2:30pm–10:30pm, Monday through Friday, emphasizing precision and safety.

You will interpret blueprints, set up tool room machines, test dies, and collaborate with skilled trades to meet specifications while maintaining thorough tool logs and data.

Qualifications

• Completion of a formal apprenticeship program or eight-year training recognized by skilled trades committee.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing dies, tools, fixtures, and jigs.
• Strong understanding of precision measuring and gauging tools.
• Experience operating lathes, mills, and grinding machinery.
• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to safety.

Responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints and use precision measuring devices to create or modify tooling.
• Set up and operate tool room machines, selecting materials and tools safely.
• Ensure tools are sharpened and maintained before production release.
• Use jigs, fixtures, and dies to run test dies and troubleshoot as needed.
• Operate hand tools; perform heat treating or welding when required.
• Document tool logs and condition reports for tracking data.
• Collaborate with skilled trades and production staff to share insights.
• Undertake additional tasks as directed by supervisors.
