Job summary

Schneider Electric in the United States is seeking an experienced tool and die technician to support high-speed assembly tooling. The role focuses on repairing, altering and constructing dies, tools, jigs and fixtures for stamping and molding operations, with emphasis on precision and safety.

You will read blueprints, set up machine tools, perform die changes and contribute to continuous improvement across tooling and manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Tool & Die or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school is required.
• 2+ years hands on Mechanical / Tooling / Manufacturing Experience in an automated industrial environment, stamping or molding fabrication is preferred.
• Proficient at all aspects of precision machining and form grinding.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Understanding of lean manufacturing principles is preferred.
• Possesses manual dexterity and an eye for detail.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work with others across all departments.
• Must be able to work daily and weekend overtime.

Responsibilities

• Plan and perform bench and machining ops to repair, construct dies, tools, jigs, gauges and fixtures.
• Set up and operate machine tools to machine parts and verify conformance to specifications.
• Read blueprints or models to determine materials and machines needed for fabrication.
• Perform die or mold changes and propose improvements or design changes.
• Support continuous improvement within tooling and manufacturing processes.
• Adjust tools, dies, presses, machines and fixtures to produce parts of required quality.
• Maintain high precision and check work with micrometers, calipers, gauges and CMM.
• Ensure safety devices are in place and operating correctly.
• Sketch parts to be built and record information for traceability.
