Job summary

Harbor Steel in Prichard, WV is seeking a dependable Shear & Grinder Operator for 1st shift. You will operate shear and grinding equipment, ensure product quality, and meet customer specifications while maintaining safe, efficient production.

Prior experience in steel or metals is preferred and certification for cranes/forklifts may be required. The role emphasizes accuracy, safety, and teamwork in a fast-paced industrial environment with hands-on duties and daily quality checks.

Qualifications

• Previous steel, metals, manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial experience preferred.
• Product knowledge preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn and operate industrial equipment.
• Good basic math skills.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions, work orders, and customer specifications.
• Ability to safely operate overhead cranes and forklifts; certification required.
• Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
• High school diploma, technical training, or equivalent experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate shear and grinder equipment safely and efficiently.
• Shear and grind steel and other metal products according to customer specifications.
• Review work orders and production requirements to ensure accurate processing and maximum material utilization.
• Check material to maintain proper tolerances, dimensions, and squareness.
• Perform in-process inspections and complete IPIR documentation as required.
