Job summary

Universal Stainless in Bridgeville, PA is seeking a reliable Grinder Operator to remove surface impurities from steel ingots while maintaining safety and productivity. The role begins in a Utility position with hands-on training and progression to the posted title.

You will operate grinders, forklifts, cranes, and related equipment on a rotating schedule, with focus on quality and efficiency, and you must meet physical requirements and be able to work in a heavy industrial environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Training on Gantry, Midwest, and Tysman grinders will be provided.
• Previous experience in steel-related or heavy manufacturing preferred.
• Experience operating grinders, forklifts, cranes, or other industrial equipment preferred.
• Manufacturing or warehouse experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set up and position material for grinding and conditioning
• Operate Gantry, Midwest, and Tysman grinders
• Operate forklifts and cranes as necessary
• Change grinding wheels as required
• Safely operate grinding equipment and follow established operating procedures
• Condition material according to mill work order instructions
• Inspect material and notify the supervisor of non-conforming product
• Report production, delays, and other operational information as required
• Report equipment problems or maintenance concerns promptly
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
• Work safely and productively while meeting production expectations
• Perform other duties as assigned
