Job summary

Harbor Steel is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Laser Operator to join our manufacturing team. In this hands-on role, you’ll operate laser-cutting equipment to produce material according to customer specifications while maintaining high standards for quality, safety, and productivity.

The ideal candidate will follow written procedures, be safety-conscious, and comfortably use measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, and micrometers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to read and follow written work orders and drawings.
• Certified to operate forklift and crane.
• Experience using measuring tools (tape, calipers, micrometers).
• Safety-focused and able to work in fast-paced manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Position steel on the laser table per work order.
• Monitor laser-cutting process for safety and accuracy.
• Remove finished parts and scrap from the cutting unit.
• Perform IPIR as required.
• Follow work orders to meet quality expectations.
• Use process scheduler to manage production.
• Perform preventive maintenance on laser equipment.
• Maintain 5S and safety standards in the area.
• Follow procedures and policies.
• Take on additional duties as assigned.

Position Summary

Harbor Steel is looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Laser Operator to join our manufacturing team. In this hands-on role, you’ll operate laser-cutting equipment to produce material according to customer specifications while maintaining high standards for quality, safety, and productivity.

The ideal candidate takes pride in precision work, follows instructions carefully, and is comfortable working with steel, measuring tools, production equipment, and detailed work orders.

What You’ll Do

• Position the correct type and size of steel on the laser table according to the work order.
• Monitor the laser-cutting process to ensure safe and accurate production.
• Remove finished steel and scrap material from the cutting unit.
• Perform IPIR as required.
• Understand and follow the work-order process to meet customer quality expectations.
• Use the process scheduler to manage production requirements.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance checks on laser equipment.
• Use a hand grinder as needed to complete or finish material.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area by following 5S practices and company safety standards.
• Follow all written procedures, production requirements, and safety policies.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications include:

• Ability to lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

• Certification or qualification to operate a lift truck and crane.
• Ability to safely use a hand grinder.
• High school diploma, relevant training, or equivalent experience.
