Job summary

CAM Industrial Solutions LLC seeks a Semiconductor Orbital Welder to program, set up, operate, and troubleshoot automated orbital welding systems for high-purity stainless-steel piping. The role covers material prep, purge setup, weld execution, inspection awareness, and required documentation.

The candidate will read drawings, maintain cleanliness, complete logs, and ensure compliance with safety and project-specific procedures.

Qualifications

• Program the orbital welding machine/power supply for pipe/tube size, wall thickness, material, weld schedule, and approved requirements.
• Select, enter, verify, and use the approved weld program and parameters for each weld configuration.
• Set up and operate the orbital welding machine, power supply, weld head, remote equipment, purge equipment, gas lines, and tooling.
• Install proper weld head, collets/inserts, tooling, and consumables for pipe/tube size.
• Measure, cut, square, face, deburr, clean, and prepare pipe/tube ends to prevent contamination.
• Verify fit-up, alignment, and weld-head positioning before welding.
• Maintain argon purge and shielding-gas conditions; understand effects of oxygen on high-purity welds.
• Perform the complete welding process from prep through weld cycle.
• Monitor arc/weld quality and detect abnormalities or contamination.

Responsibilities

• Program the orbital welder for the correct pipe/tube specs.
• Operate the welding machine, power supply, and purge equipment.
• Select and install the proper weld head and tooling.
• Prepare ends, ensure clean surfaces before welding.
• Verify alignment and fit-up prior to welds.
• Maintain purge and shielding gas integrity during welding.
• Document welds and maintain traceability records.
• Identify when to stop, repair, or escalate to supervision as needed.
• Inspect completed welds for appearance, penetration, and cleanliness.
