Job summary

Vylor is seeking a Precision Phenotyping Intern to contribute to a 6-month research project in Johnston, IA or Princeton, IL, starting in Spring 2027. You will lead, execute, and analyze precision phenotyping tasks across sensors, field data, image analytics, and pipeline development.

You will gain experience in remote sensing and plant breeding research, with opportunities to present results and potentially transition to full-time roles. Collaboration with cross-disciplinary teams is expected.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled sophomores or graduate students at an accredited university.
• Academic focus in Agronomy, Plant Physiology, Plant Breeding, CS, Data Science, Engineering, Biology, Plant Pathology, Horticulture, or related field.
• Remote sensing or plant phenotyping background beneficial.
• Knowledge of R for statistical analyses and visualizations beneficial.
• Knowledge of Python beneficial.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Must be enrolled at an accredited university during the internship.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a team on precision phenotyping tasks related to trait/product development, digital ag, and/or plant breeding.
• Assist the team with field data collection, sensor testing, validation, image analytics, and pipeline or model development.
• Manage your own research project in precision phenotyping trait/tool validation with a verifiable verbal report at internship end.
• Internships provide experience applicable to full-time roles or further graduate training.

We are seeking a Precision Phenotyping Intern to participate in a 6-month internship! The internship will be based out of Johnston, IA or Princeton, IL. As a Precision Phenotyping Intern you will have the opportunity to lead, execute, and analyze results for a precision phenotyping project as well as obtain experiences across the areas of remote sensing, plant characterization, and plant breeding research activities.

Position will start in the Spring of 2027 with a duration of 6 months.

Responsibilities – What You’ll Do

• You will work as part of a team in one or more of the following research areas: precision phenotyping tasks associated with trait/product development, digital ag, and/or plant breeding projects.
• You will assist the Precision Phenotyping Team with tasks associated with field data collection, sensor testing, validation, image analytics, pipeline development and/or model development.
• You will also manage your own research project in the area of precision phenotyping trait/tool validation with the expectation of a verbal report to a larger audience at the conclusion of your internship.
• Intern positions provide excellent experience that can be applied to full-time positions in the industry, or in preparation for additional graduate level training.

Qualifications – What You’ll Bring

• Priority will be given to students that are at least current sophomores at an accredited university. Interns can be undergraduate or graduate students.
• Education focus in Agronomy, Plant Physiology, Plant Breeding, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Biology, Plant Pathology, Horticulture, Entomology, Weed Science, or a related field
• Remote sensing or plant phenotyping background beneficial
• Agricultural or plant breeding background beneficialKnowledge of R for statistical analyses and visualizations beneficial
• Knowledge of Python beneficial
• Preference will be given to student with a minimum GPA of 3.0
• Must be enrolled at an accredited university at the time of internship
