• Current sophomore or higher; undergrad or graduate student.
• Enrolled at an accredited university during the internship.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Must relocate to the geography of the R&D center for the duration of the internship.
• Valid Driver License.
• Willing to work outside and wear PPE when required.
• Creative thinking and ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Work in field plot management, plot maintenance and agronomy, seed production, harvesting and data collection to support plant breeding & biotech product advancement.
• Responsible for collection of high-quality field data on specific traits and pests of economic importance.
• Travel to other field locations as part of the data collection process.
• Assist Vylor employees located at one of our research centers.
• Manage your own research project with the expectation of a verbal report to the larger intern group found throughout the United States.
• Gain excellent experience that can be applied to full-time positions in the industry, or in preparation for additional graduate level training in the plant sciences.

Join us at Vylor for an exciting and impactful 3-month internship designed to give broad-based exposure to the day-to-day activities at a field research center. Several research centers house both plant breeding and biotech trait characterization research activities. Sharing resources across research groups facilitates more efficient integrated product development. You will get the opportunity to participate in all aspects of the research center's activities.

Position duration varies depending on location but typically lasts throughout the summer for three months. Possible locations include: Aberdeen, SD, Cairo, GA, Champaign, IL, College Station, TX, Eau Claire, WI, Garden City, KS, Janesville, WI, Johnston, IA, Lubbock, TX, Macomb, IL, Mankato, MN, Marion, IA, Miami, MO, Moorhead, MN, Napoleon, OH, Olivia, MN, Orange City, IA, Princeton, IL, Princeton, IN, Rio Grande Valley, TX, Salinas, PR, Union City, TN, Wamego, KS, West Memphis, AR, Windfall, IN, Woodland, CA, Woodstock, ON, York, NE.

Responsibilities - What You'll Do

• Work as part of a team in one or more of the following research areas: field plot management, plot maintenance and agronomy, seed production, harvesting and analyzing samples (plant and insect), inoculation of disease or infestation of insects to facilitate pest pressure, and aid in data collection to support plant breeding & biotech product advancement.
• Responsible for collection of high-quality field data on specific traits and pests of economic importance.
• Travel to other field locations as part of the data collection process.
• Assist Vylor employees located at one of our research centers.
• Manage your own research project with the expectation of a verbal report to the larger intern group found throughout the United States.
• Gain excellent experience that can be applied to full-time positions in the industry, or in preparation for additional graduate level training in the plant sciences.

Qualifications - What You'll Bring

• Priority will be given to students that are at least current sophomores at an accredited university. Interns can be undergraduate or graduate students.
• Knowledge and experience in Agronomy, Plant Breeding, Plant Physiology, Plant Pathology, Genetics, Biology, or a related field.
• Agricultural background is beneficial.
• Preference will be given to students with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Must be enrolled at an accredited university at the time of internship.
• Must be able to relocate to the geography of the R&D center for the duration of the internship.
• Valid Driver License
• Must be willing to work outside and wear appropriate PPE when required.
• Creative thinking and ability to work independently and in a team environment.
