Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; formal ICD-10-CM and CPT training required.
• 6 months to 2 years of outpatient coding experience in a facility setting.
• Certification required among CCS, RHIT, RHIA, CCA, CPC, or COC.
• Experience using EHR systems and coding software.
• Knowledge of AHIMA coding standards.

Responsibilities

• Identify and assign ICD-10 diagnoses and CPT-4 codes for ER, trauma, and outpatient encounters.
• Monitor daily work to support timely billing within required timeframes.
• Maintain coding quality accuracy of 90%.
• Maintain productivity of at least 95%.
• Comply with AHIMA ethical coding and guidelines.
• Support UMMS mission and policies; perform coding corrections as needed.
