Job summary

Carpenter Canada Co. in Rochester Hills, MI is seeking a manufacturing worker to operate primary and secondary processing equipment and assist hand assembly. You will follow procedures, maintain productivity, quality, and safety to satisfy internal and external customers.

This is a 2nd shift position. Responsibilities include inspecting parts, trimming flash, recording scrap hourly, ensuring correct labeling and lot control, and reporting discrepancies to the Production Supervisor.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; or 1–3 months related experience or training.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short memos, and correspondences.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written or schedule form.

Responsibilities

• Trim the flash from the mold manually and/or using scissors.
• Review job standards before trimming the part.
• Assure product meets established quality criteria of zero non-conformances.
• Correctly record scrap every hour per work instructions.
• Correct application of all internal and external labels when required, including removal of old labels from returnable packaging.
• Correct application of lot control numbers.
• Review daily of all applicable quality alerts.
• Notify Production Supervisor of discrepancies to established quality checks or any abnormal condition.
• Communicate production and quality issues with associates during staff meetings.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping in respective areas.
• Participate in team problem solving and continuous improvement activities.
• Follow all internal and OSHA safety and environmental procedures.
• Wear required PPE (safety glasses, ear plugs, close toed shoes/boots with rubber sole base).
• Adherence to all company policies and procedures.
