Job summary

General Plastics & Composites LP in Houston is seeking a Saw Operator to accurately cut raw materials such as metal bar, tube, plate, or structural shapes to specified dimensions using manual and automatic saws. The role supports machining and fabrication by ensuring safe, precise, and efficient cutting according to work orders and blueprints.

You will work closely with machinists, production supervisors, and quality control to maintain workflow, meet deadlines, and uphold quality standards

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1–2 years of experience operating band saws or similar equipment.
• Experience measuring materials with tape measures, calipers, or micrometers.
• Ability to read and interpret work orders, cut sheets, and basic blueprints.
• Experience with carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate power saws (wet, band or circular) to cut material per specifications.
• Install blades, set stop gauges, speeds and indexing for automatic positioning.
• Review work orders, drawings, and ITP specs to determine dimensions and tolerances.
• Verify conformance of finished parts to specifications and document results.
• Monitor for defects and report to supervisor and QC; perform basic maintenance.
• Keep work area clean and safe; read and follow related orders and procedures.
• Read measuring devices accurately and use them to ensure tight tolerances.
