Job summary

Daktronics in Brookings, SD is hiring a Metal Machine Operator for day shift in our Transportation department. You will set up and operate metal fabrication equipment, read blueprints, and produce sheet metal assemblies and welded frames with precision and safety.

You’ll work a 4/10 schedule, Monday through Thursday, with overtime as needed. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, good communication, and the ability to work well in a team and with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current or previous metal machine operation experience preferred.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to learn quickly.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision.
• Regularly and reliably work the scheduled hours; overtime as required.
• Wear all proper protective equipment per safety policy and OSHA standards.

Responsibilities

• Manufacture sheet metal assemblies and welded extruded frames.
• Set up and operate machines (e.g., punch, press brake, saw, CNS mill) or computer-controlled machines.
• Use precision measuring instruments (calipers, square, etc.).
• Safely use tools including air-driven power tools, drills and riveting guns.
• Follow instructions and blueprints; record work; perform basic math.
• Complete quality work in a timely manner; inspect own work; learn new tasks and handle repetitive tasks.
• Collaborate as a team member, seek improvements, communicate with teammates, follow company guidelines.
• Work scheduled hours and overtime as needed; flexible to work in other manufacturing departments.
• Program metal fabrication machines through automated computer equipment.
