Motion Industries in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a Fabricator to make, repair, adapt, and rectify tools and dies with high precision by interpreting blueprints and specifications, and by testing components. The role requires reading drawings, measuring with calipers and rulers, and using fabricating equipment in a safe manner.

Responsibilities include laying out parts, operating brakes, rolls, shears, drills, and welding components as needed.

Qualifications

Typically requires a high school diploma or GED.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
Familiarity with measurement tools and precision tolerance.

Responsibilities

Lay out, position, align, and secure parts prior to assembly using measuring tools.
Examine work pieces for defects and verify conformance with specifications.
Set up and operate fabricating machines to bend, cut, form, punch or drill parts.
Position, align, fit and weld parts to form complete units per blueprints.
Weld components in various positions as needed and tack-weld parts.
Follow safety practices and keep the work area clean.
Study engineering drawings to determine material requirements and task sequences.
