Job summary

Motion Industries is seeking a Fabricator to interpret blueprints, set up and operate fabricating machines, and weld components as needed. This role requires reading specifications, measuring with precision, and adhering to safety protocols.

Typical duties include layout, inspection, material handling, and collaborating with supervisors to ensure dies and tools meet engineering changes. The position emphasizes high precision and adherence to tolerances in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Reads blueprints and specifications to determine materials and tolerances.
• Interprets work orders and applies mathematical calculations for setups.
• Understands gauges and indicators to ensure machines operate correctly.

Responsibilities

• Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies before final assembly.
• Inspect pieces and measure with straightedges, rulers or templates for spec conformance.
• Verify conformance using squares, rulers and tapes.
• Set up and operate fabricating machines (brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, grinders, drills).
• May position, align, fit and weld parts to form whole units or subassemblies; follow blueprints.
• May weld components in various positions and tack-weld parts.
• Operate safety equipment and maintain safe work habits.
• Keep work area clean.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Study engineering drawings to determine materials and sequence of tasks.
