Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a Mechanical Assembler / Shop Helper in Irvine, CA. This hands-on role focuses on assembling and fabricating precision metal components for high-reliability products, interpreting drawings and work orders, and maintaining quality standards.

The position operates on a 4/10 first-shift schedule (6:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.) with overtime opportunities. It involves shop-floor fabrication, use of measuring tools, RTV adhesives, and collaboration with engineering and production teams.

Qualifications

• Reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
• Hands-on experience with metal parts and mechanical assemblies.
• Experience using RTV adhesives in assembly or fabrication.
• High attention to detail verifying part numbers and drawing accuracy.
• Familiarity with shop-floor metalworking equipment and tools.
• Ability to use tape measures and calipers for dimensional checks.
• Basic computer skills for documentation and machine interfaces.
• Ability to read/write English to follow instructions.
• Experience with hand and power tools in production settings.
• Ability to read BOMs and schematics.
• Compliance with ITAR documentation as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assemble metal components per engineering drawings and work orders.
• Perform metal fabrication tasks (cutting, drilling, punching, etc.).
• Read and interpret drawings, verify details against orders.
• Match part numbers to BOMs and drawings for accuracy.
• Operate drill presses, punch presses, metal cutters, and laser cutters safely.
• Document data and interact with machine interfaces as required.
• Apply RTV adhesives accurately and consistently.
• Use calipers and tape measures to verify dimensions.
• Collaborate with engineering and production to resolve issues.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace.
• Handle small parts with magnification tools as needed.
• Follow BOMs and assembly instructions to meet quality standards.
