Job summary

Qualifications

• Associate degree in laboratory science or equivalent CLIA-training per regulations.
• MLT certification from ASCP or AMT required within 1 year of employment; CLIA regs prior to 1995 exempt if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Regulatory compliance with CLIA, CAP, OSHA, TJC and other bodies; participate in quality assurance and follow lab protocols.
• Complete orientation, obtain/maintain necessary certifications, and participate in mandatory training and competency assessments.
• Process patient samples, perform authorized tests and report results accurately to support diagnosis and treatment.
• Perform only tests within your education, training and capabilities.
• Adhere to SOPs for specimen handling, testing and reporting; maintain records of test outcomes.
• Implement and document quality control, instrument calibration and maintenance to ensure accuracy.
• Maintain proficiency testing records with the same rigor as patient samples.
• Follow corrective action procedures for deviations in test performance; escalate issues as needed.
• Record and address problems that could affect test performance; escalate to supervisors when needed.
• Maintain detailed records of corrective actions and any changes to test systems.
• Perform other duties as assigned or updated by the lab.
