Job summary

Patient First in Richmond, VA seeks a Medical Technologist / Medical Laboratory Technician to deliver accurate, rapid lab results and support physicians, extenders, and nurses in patient care. The role includes specimen handling, quality control, instrument maintenance, and compliance with procedures.

The position requires CPR, ability to lift 20–50 lbs, and flexibility with shifts. Prior lab experience is preferred, and the staff collaborates across departments to ensure timely patient care.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent and relevant college coursework in chemistry, biology, and lab techniques.
• Two years of clinical lab experience preferred but not required; strong lab knowledge essential.
• CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality and rapid lab results with knowledge of analyses, procedures, equipment, and safety.
• Follow specimen collection, handling, processing, analysis, reporting, and record-keeping procedures.
• Adhere to QC policies and document calibrations and maintenance of instruments.
• Assist physicians and nurses with patient care and triage as needed.
• Maintain accuracy in data entry and lab records within the medical record system.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain lab instruments and troubleshoot issues.
