Job summary

TECOMET in Fort Washington, MD is seeking a Manual Machinist to perform specialty and diversified machining on stainless steel and other alloys, including light finishing. You will use milling machines, lathes, drill presses, and hand tools to meet engineering drawings.

The role requires at least a high school diploma and a minimum of three years in a machine shop, with ability to read blueprints, use calipers and micrometers, and perform data entry for process documentation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years machine shop experience required, preferably in an engineering environment using the majority of the equipment listed above.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; able to read and work from blueprints, drawings, sketches, or work orders.
• Able to read blueprints for finish specifications and critical dimensions; use calipers, micrometers, and inspection tools.
• Trade mathematics knowledge; detail oriented and efficient; able to multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Knowledge, setup and operation of manual machinery including milling machines, lathes, drill press, surface grinder, and hand tools.
• Reworks parts per print with written and verbal instructions.
• Maintains production by completing scheduled work on-time as per the schedule.
• Inspects components, subassemblies, and final assemblies to ensure proper form, fit, and function to all dimensional criteria.
• Documents routings and inspection reports and records times in the system.
• Maintains inventory of material and hardware; assists in tooling development with engineering.
• Maintains a clean, safe work area and performs other duties as required.
