Job summary

Qualifications

• Experience operating manual lathes and/or milling machines preferred but not required.
• Proficiency with precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, T-gauges).
• Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and part specifications.
• Select materials and determine machining methods and sequences.
• Set up and operate manual lathes, milling machines, and other shop equipment.
• Perform precision machining to tight tolerances (up to .0001”).
• Install and secure vises, fixtures, jigs, and workpieces using hoists as needed.
• Operate machine controls to remove material according to specifications.
• Use precision measuring instruments to verify accuracy.
• Monitor machine operation and perform basic maintenance.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area during and after shift.
• Identify different metals and materials used in machining.
• Interpret CAD drawings and create basic part sketches.
