Job summary

SEPAC Inc. in Elmira, NY is seeking a Manual Machinist who will set up and operate lathes, milling machines, grinders, drill presses and other conventional equipment to produce precision parts.

You will read blueprints, inspect parts with calipers and micrometers, and ensure workmanship meets tight tolerances, quality and safety standards.

Strong attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and good math skills are required; prior machining experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience operating Mills and lathes, or aptitude to learn.
• Reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings.
• Proficient use of precision measuring tools and math for tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, drill presses, and other conventional machining equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, sketches, and work instructions.
• Calculate dimensions and tolerances using measuring instruments and mathematical formulas.
• Machine, fabricate, modify, and repair parts according to specifications.
• Select appropriate tooling, materials, and machine settings for each job.
• Perform precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gauges.
• Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and make necessary adjustments to equipment and processes.
• Maintain accurate production and inspection records.
• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machinery and work areas.
• Follow all company safety procedures and wear required PPE.
• Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
