Job summary

Parallel Employment Group, in partnership with an aerospace manufacturer in Elma, NY, is seeking a skilled CNC/Manual Machinist to join our manufacturing team. The Machinist will set up and operate a variety of manual and CNC machine tools to produce precision parts that meet engineering specs and quality standards.

The ideal candidate has hands-on machining experience, strong blueprint-reading skills, and the ability to use precision measuring equipment, with CNC grinding experience highly

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with at least 1 year related experience or training.
• One year of CNC machining experience or CNC certification preferred.
• Experience setting up and operating CNC grinding equipment preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Proficient in using precision measuring instruments and math.
• Strong English communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Maintain accurate documentation and quality control.

Responsibilities

• Analyze blueprints and specs to determine machining requirements.

Job description

Parallel Employment Group in partnership with a aerospace manufacturer in Elma, NY are seeking a skilled CNC/Manual Machinist to join our manufacturing team. Under indirect supervision, the Machinist will set up and operate a variety of manual and CNC machine tools to produce precision parts that meet engineering specifications and quality standards.

The ideal candidate has hands‑on machining experience, strong blueprint‑reading skills, and the ability to use precision measuring equipment. Experience with CNC grinding is highly preferred.

Pay Rate: $18.75 to $30 an hour DOE

Shift: 1st shift

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze blueprints, technical drawings, sketches, and job specifications to determine machining requirements, including tooling, speeds, feeds, and machining processes.
• Set up and operate manual and CNC machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and drill presses.
• Set up and operate CNC grinding equipment, including loading and adjusting tooling and managing CNC programs.
• Upload, download, and edit CNC grinding programs to optimize cutting conditions, improve cycle times, and maintain part accuracy.
• Monitor machine settings, tool offsets, and grinding wheel conditions to ensure consistent quality.
• Select appropriate grinding wheels, abrasives, tooling, and cutting conditions based on material and application.
• Use precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and optical comparators to inspect parts during and after production.
• Adjust machine setups, tooling, and offsets as needed to produce parts to print specifications.
• Perform routine machine maintenance to support safe, reliable, and efficient operation.
• Maintain accurate production records, tooling setup sheets, inspection documentation, and other required records.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and work with engineering and production teams to improve processes and resolve problems.
• Train and support operators in CNC grinding procedures and standard work instructions.
• Follow all applicable safety procedures, quality standards, and manufacturing practices.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and at least one year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• One year of CNC machining experience or CNC certification preferred.
• Experience setting up and operating CNC equipment, particularly CNC grinding equipment, preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, technical drawings, and job specifications.
• Knowledge of machining processes, tooling, materials, and inspection techniques.
• Proficiency using precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and optical comparators.
• Strong understanding of general mathematics, including fractions and decimals.
• Ability to work quickly while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work independently as well as effectively within a team environment.
• Strong organizational skills and commitment to accurate documentation and quality control.
