The ideal candidate will read blueprints, use micrometers, and work with various machine tools while maintaining equipment and ensuring quality through inspection and measurements.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED.
• Knowledge of machinist, CAD and CAM software required.

Responsibilities

• Machines parts to specifications using lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
• Sets up and operates basic or specialized machine tools used to perform precision machining operations.
• Measures and tests completed units with micrometers and other precision instruments.
• Calculates dimensions or tolerances using micrometers or Vernier calipers.
• Monitors the feed and speed of machines during machining.
• Maintains machine tools in proper operational condition.
• Reads drawings and engineering information to plan operations.
• Uses bandsaws, cutoff wheels, table saws, and pedestal grinders.
• Lays out, measures, and marks metal stock for cuts.
• Fits and assembles parts to repair or assemble machine tools.
• Sets up or operates metalworking, brazing, heat-treating, welding, or cutting equipment.
• Installs repaired parts or new equipment.
• Checks work pieces for lubrication or cooling.
• Designs fixtures, tooling, or experimental parts to meet special needs.
• Supports projects from planning to testing with knowledge of metal properties and math.
