Job summary

Corning Incorporated is hiring a Machinist to support production and toolroom operations in Oneonta, NY. You will build, modify, repair, and maintain precision molds and tooling, operating CNC and manual machines to tight tolerances.

The role requires blueprint reading, precision measurement, and mold experience. You will troubleshoot mold issues, ensure safety and quality, and may train others on-the-job within the toolroom.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Journeyman status or 4+ years machinist experience.
• Military equivalent or 2-year degree in Machine Tool Technology.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret specs.
• Proficient with precision measuring equipment and tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and maintain manual, CNC, and hand tools.
• Perform milling, turning, drilling, grinding to precise tolerances.
• Construct and repair complex molds and mold components.
• Assemble molds and perform functional testing; modify as needed.
• Interpret blueprints and general work instructions.
• Lay out work for molds, jigs, and tooling.
• Determine dimensions and venting using product/process info.
• Apply algebra, geometry, and trigonometry to machining needs.
• Select cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and coolants for materiel.
• Use finishing methods to achieve fine finishes; maintain tools.
• Troubleshoot molds and repair mold-related issues.
• Follow safety, quality standards, and procedures.
• Provide on-the-job training after training.
• Perform other related duties.
