Job summary

Rocket Propulsion Systems in the Greater Seattle Area is seeking a skilled Machinist to set up and operate manual and CNC machines that produce precision components for rocket propulsion systems. You will read engineering drawings, select tooling, measure parts, and maintain tight tolerances to spec.

You will perform routine machine maintenance, troubleshoot basic issues, and collaborate with engineers and technicians to refine manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

  • US citizens only.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T fundamentals.
  • Hands-on experience with manual and CNC machining, including setup, operation, and basic programming or offset adjustments.
  • Proficiency with measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges) and inspection techniques to verify dimensions and tolerances.
  • Knowledge of machining materials (metals, alloys) and cutting tools, with understanding of feeds, speeds, and surface finishes.
  • Strong focus on safety, housekeeping, and adherence to SOPs in a manufacturing environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certificate or apprenticeship in machining preferred.
  • Previous aerospace, defense, or precision manufacturing experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate manual and CNC machines to produce precision components per drawings.
  • Select appropriate tooling and verify part dimensions with inspection tools.
  • Maintain tight tolerances and document measurements for quality control.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot basic issues.
  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians to refine manufacturing processes.
  • Adhere to safety procedures and internal/customer documentation standards.
