Job summary

Rocket Propulsion Systems in the Greater Seattle Area is seeking a skilled Machinist to set up and operate manual and CNC machines that produce precision components for rocket propulsion systems. You will read engineering drawings, select tooling, measure parts, and maintain tight tolerances to spec.

You will perform routine machine maintenance, troubleshoot basic issues, and collaborate with engineers and technicians to refine manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

  • US citizens only.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T fundamentals.
  • Hands-on experience with manual and CNC machining, including setup, operation, and basic programming or offset adjustments.
  • Proficiency with measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges) and inspection techniques to verify dimensions and tolerances.
  • Knowledge of machining materials (metals, alloys) and cutting tools, with understanding of feeds, speeds, and surface finishes.
  • Strong focus on safety, housekeeping, and adherence to SOPs in a manufacturing environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certificate or apprenticeship in machining preferred.
  • Previous aerospace, defense, or precision manufacturing experience is a plus.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Machinist role based in the Greater Seattle Area. The Machinist will set up and operate manual and CNC machines to produce precision components for rocket propulsion systems, following engineering drawings and specifications. Daily tasks include selecting appropriate tooling, performing accurate measurements, inspecting parts, and maintaining tight tolerances to meet quality standards. The role involves routine equipment maintenance, troubleshooting basic machining issues, and collaborating with engineers and technicians to refine manufacturing processes. The Machinist will also follow safety procedures and documentation requirements to support reliable production and compliance with internal and customer standards.
