Job summary

Altec, Duluth, MN, seeks skilled machinists to operate cutting machines, laser/plasma, press brakes, saws, and related tooling. You will read drawings, adjust settings, verify dimensions, and ensure quality while meeting production targets.

The role demands basic math, reading/writing proficiency, and familiarity with measuring equipment. Training is provided; cross-training and safety compliance are emphasized at Altec's Duluth location.

Qualifications

• Be able to provide a high school diploma/GED.
• Read, write, and comprehend.
• Basic computer usage knowledge.
• Know how to use measuring equipment and general hand tools.
• Able to perform moderate math calculations.

Responsibilities

• Operate cutting machines, laser/plasma, press machines, saw, and manual cutting tools.
• Control and adjust machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications, and in a timely fashion.
• Read drawings and understand basic dimensions.
• Perform rework and repair tasks.
• Perform inspection of machined parts.
• Use measuring equipment to verify conformance to specifications.
• Load and unload components and tooling.
• Maintain daily time records.
• Support APS (Altec Production System) initiatives; may participate in continuous improvement events.
• Move to other work areas to support production needs (cross-train).
• Effectively assist and train new/current associates.
• Follow safety, environmental and quality policies, PPE usage and maintenance of tools.
• Maintain work area and shop tools/equipment.
• Show commitment to Altec core values.
• Other job duties as assigned.
