Job summary

Alamo Group in Michigan is seeking a Machine Operator to set up and operate machines in our shop. You will read blueprints, measure parts, and ensure safety and quality on the production floor.

The role requires hands-on setup of Mitsubishi and Bystronic laser systems and accurate gauging. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year of relevant experience, with strong math and tape-measure skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2 years of related work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
• 1-year minimum setup and operation of Mitsubishi and/or Bystronic lasers is required.
• Ability to read and understand both written and verbal instructions.
• Must be able to read basic prints/schematics and use tape measures.
• Proficient in shop mathematics and layout techniques is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate various machines (CNC, Brake Press, Saw, etc.).
• Use measuring equipment such as dial calipers, micrometers, and tape measures.
• Read blueprints or job orders to determine product specs and tooling instructions.
• Keep the workplace safe, clean and organized.
• Ensure proper placement of tools at the end of each shift.
• Responsibilities may change to support department needs.
