Surface Combustion in Perrysburg, OH is seeking a Plasma/Laser Cutting Operator to set up, program, and operate plasma and laser cutting equipment to meet quality and production requirements. You will read blueprints, load material, monitor operations, and inspect finished parts.

Responsibilities include reading drawings, setting up machines, running programs, checking cut quality, performing basic maintenance, and safely handling materials.

Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of CNC plasma cutting, laser cutting, fabrication, or related manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of fabrication processes.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Understanding of cutting parameters and material characteristics.
  • Quality inspection of cut parts and precision measurement skills.
  • Familiarity with operating forklifts, overhead cranes, and material-handling equipment.
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools effectively.

Job Overview

The Plasma/Laser Cutting Operator is responsible for setting up, programming, and operating plasma and laser cutting equipment to manufacture parts that meet quality, dimensional, and production requirements. This position reads blueprints, loads and positions material, monitors cutting operations, inspects completed parts, performs routine maintenance, and follows all safety procedures. This role works closely with fabrication and production personnel to ensure accurate and efficient processing of materials.

  • Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Load and position metal plates, sheets, or structural material
  • Set up plasma or laser cutting machines
  • Run cutting programs
  • Monitor cut quality, kerf width, and material utilization
