Job summary

Oldcastle APG in North Carolina is seeking an Equipment and Machine Operator to operate machinery, follow safety policies, and help produce high-quality products. You will read specifications, adjust settings, and monitor performance to ensure timely delivery and adherence to standards.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent, basic electronics knowledge, hydraulics and electrical basics, plus strong math and computer literacy to support efficient manufacturing.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; or at least one month of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Basic understanding of electronics and programmable controllers
• Knowledge with the basics of hydraulics, electricity and tools
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
• Must encompass computer literacy as well as strong mechanical ability

Responsibilities

• Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements
• Set stops or guides to specific lengths as indicated by scale, rule or templates
• Observes machine operation to detect product defects or machine malfunction
• Review product for inconsistencies or abnormal appearance assuring product meets quality requirements
• Perform routine machine maintenance
• Assist other operators to set up machines and any other necessary tasks to adhere to deadlines and completion of product
• Make sure all housekeeping is maintained in a clear and orderly fashion in assigned area
