Job summary

Caterpillar's Large Power Systems Division in Lafayette, IN, seeks a Machine Excellence Diagnostic Specialist for 2nd shift. You will use API 6D laser, Leica, Hamar laser, and Renishaw tools to diagnose machine tools, verify geometrical accuracy, and support maintenance. Overtime, travel, and shift flexibility are expected.

The role emphasizes reading prints, interpreting CMM reports, and ensuring tight tolerances on varied equipment. Relocation assistance available.

Qualifications

• Completed an approved skilled trades apprenticeship or a minimum of three years experience in lasering/alignment of machine tools and related equipment.
• Able to work at heights and in confined spaces
• Willing to work large amounts of overtime to support production goals

Responsibilities

• Use metrology equipment to diagnose machine tool conditions and troubleshoot complex systems.
• Proactively inspect machine tools and related equipment to achieve quality improvements.
• Assist maintenance in diagnosing electrical or mechanical problems and improving tolerances.
• Travel as needed and work overtime to complete projects.
