Olympic Steel in Ohio is seeking a Leveler Operator to support our production line. You will participate in setups, monitor material conformity, and operate leveler equipment to produce flat sheet stock for packaging and shipment.

This role requires mechanical aptitude, crane knowledge, basic math, and computer literacy. Shift is 1st; 6:00am-4:30pm with occasional nights and weekends to meet business needs. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Qualifications

• Mechanical aptitude and safety focus in a production setting.
• Knowledge of crane operation and lifting devices.
• Basic math skills required for measuring and gauging.
• Working knowledge of general computer programs.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Setups in collaboration with an assigned production helper following procedures.
• Confirm hardness, gauge width, and material conformity to job specs.
• Operate the console to load coil stock, set width, feed through leveler rolls, and adjust settings.
• Thread through automatic length and sheet count, set feeds and speed for quality.
• Stack sheets per order and oversee packaging to meet customer specs.
• Verify final product hardness and dimensions; attach shipping tags to orders.
• Remove unused coils, return to inventory, and occasionally operate units manually.
• Detect faults and refer issues to supervisor.
• Record production data and time information.

Job Description

Specific job tasks required by the Leveler Operator:

• Setup involves working in conjunction with an assigned production employee helper to complete a sequence of setups by following established procedures.
• Confirm hardness, gauge width, and finished material conformity to job requirements and customer specifications.
• Operate console to mechanically load coil stock to pay-off mechanism, set for proper width, feed through leveler rolls, and adjust micro setting through console controls to secure flat sheet stock.
• Thread through automatic length and sheet count, set feeds and speed for optimum quantity and quality requirements.
• Stack required sheets according to order.
• Oversee packaging of material to ensure customer specifications are met.
• Verify final product for hardness; gauge width and length to insure conformity to order.
• Weigh and prepare shipping and stock tags and attaches to order.
• Remove unused coils from payoff for return to inventory.
• Occasionally operate units manually.
• Detect faulty operation, defective material, and refer these and other situations to supervisor.
• Record production data and time information.

1st Shift- 6:00am-4:30pm- Some nights and weekends to meet business needs
