Job summary

Dave Steel Company Inc. in Asheville, NC wants a skilled Fiber Optic Laser Programmer & Nesting Specialist for our fabrication team. You will program CNC fiber laser cutters, create efficient nesting layouts, optimize material usage, and support production to ensure high-quality parts produced safely and on schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical training preferred.
• 3+ years programming CNC fiber laser cutters in manufacturing.
• Experience with nesting software and CAD/CAM programming.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and GD&T.
• Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication using carbon steel, stainless, aluminum.

Responsibilities

• Program CNC fiber optic laser cutting machines using CAD/CAM.
• Create and optimize nesting layouts to maximize material yield.
• Interpret drawings and generate/modify machine programs.
• Select cutting parameters by material type and thickness.
• Perform program prove-outs and troubleshoot issues.
• Coordinate with engineering, production and quality teams.
• Maintain program revisions and ensure safety and compliance.
• Assist operators with setup and first-piece inspections.
• Monitor machine performance and seek productivity improvements.
• Support continuous improvement for quality, efficiency and cost reduction.
