Dave Steel Company, a Walters Group Company, seeks a skilled Fiber Optic Laser Programmer & Nesting Specialist for its Asheville fabrication facility. The role focuses on programming CNC fiber laser cutters, optimizing nesting layouts, and supporting production to ensure safe, accurate, on-schedule parts.

The ideal candidate will interpret drawings and CAD files, select cutting parameters, and collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to improve processes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; technical/vocational training preferred.
• 3+ years programming CNC fiber laser cutting machines in manufacturing.
• Experience with nesting software and CAD/CAM programming.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Program CNC fiber optic laser cutting machines using CAD/CAM software.
• Create and optimize nesting layouts to maximize material yield and minimize scrap.
• Interpret drawings, blueprints, and CAD files.
• Generate and modify machine programs for new and existing parts.
• Ensure safety regulations and company policies are followed.
• Assist with setup, first-piece inspections, and process improvements.
