Job summary

Better Place Construction is seeking an Accountant/Bookkeeper to maintain accurate financial records, run daily bookkeeping, and support financial health using QuickBooks, Excel, and other systems. This in-person role requires meticulous attention to detail and a proactive approach to data entry and reconciliation.

You will manage AP/AR, prepare month-end close, perform balance sheet reconciliations, generate reports, and ensure GAAP/SOX compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience with multiple accounting systems including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, UltiPro, Kronos, ADP or similar.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP principles and governmental accounting practices.
• Proficiency in Excel for data analysis and spreadsheet management.
• Familiarity with debits & credits, journal entries, double-entry bookkeeping, and balance sheet reconciliation.
• Ability to perform detailed account analysis and maintain high data accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily bookkeeping activities, including data entry, journal entries, and account reconciliation using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or PeopleSoft.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely processing of invoices, payments, and collections while maintaining accuracy.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliation and general ledger accounting to verify the integrity of financial data.
• Prepare financial reports, including bank reconciliations, month-end close procedures, and financial analysis using Excel data analysis techniques.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), and governmental accounting standards.
• Handle confidential information with the utmost discretion while managing sensitive financial data securely.
• Support budgeting, credit analysis, and account analysis activities to provide insights into financial performance.
