Job summary

CBX Solutions in Fredericksburg, VA seeks a Detailer to translate contract documents into accurate door, frame, and hardware schedules compliant with UL, fire code, ADA and local building codes.

You will prepare shop drawings, elevations, and submittals, verify quantities, and ensure product selections meet project scope and budget. A technical degree and 2–4 years in detailing or related field are preferred.

Qualifications

• Degree in technical/engineering/architecture/construction field preferred; equivalent hands-on experience considered.
• 2–4 years in detailing, estimating, project coordination, or specification work in commercial construction or building materials
• Knowledge of door, frame, and hardware types and how components interact in an opening assembly
• Working knowledge of UL listings, fire/smoke ratings, ADA, life safety standards, and building codes
• Proficiency in detailing/scheduling software and MS Office; CAD experience a plus
• Precise quantitative skills for cost entry and quantity verification across documents

Responsibilities

• Review contract documents to establish accurate opening quantities and product requirements
• Detail and schedule door, frame, and hardware materials, document variances
• Determine product selections based on specification requirements and project scope
• Verify code compliance for UL, fire, ADA, life safety, and local codes
• Prepare shop drawings, schedules, and submittals using manufacturer cuts and company software
• Create elevation drawings using CAD or detailing software
• Write technical notes for issues and verifications during submittals
• Review schedules/submittals for errors and resubmit as needed
• Maintain organized project files throughout the lifecycle
