Job summary

The South State Bank is seeking a detail-oriented collateral release specialist to manage paid-out loan file releases across Mortgage, Commercial, and Consumer loans. You will review collateral documents, verify accuracy, and ensure proper allocation or release while maintaining file integrity and timely responses to inquiries.

Responsibilities include processing releases, researching missing documents, ensuring authority for partial releases, and reporting status to MERS.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma required.
• Experience in an operations or lending role preferred (consumer/commercial/mortgage).
• Knowledge of mortgage, commercial and consumer collateral documents and satisfactions preferred.
• Experience with FiServ systems software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage and complete the collateral release processes for paid-out loan files.
• Process releases for various loan types (Real Estate Mortgage, paper/electronic titles, and UCCs).
• Verify collateral releases and reallocation when necessary.
• Research bank files and public records to locate missing collateral documentation.
• Ensure proper lending authority for partial releases or substitutions.
• Report paid-out status to MERS as required.
• Maintain the integrity and organization of collateral files in the vault.
• Respond to inquiries from customers, lenders, and bank personnel.
• Adhere to policies to stay compliant with regulations and bank guidelines.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and regulatory changes.
