Job summary

Houston Methodist seeks a Coding Quality Auditor to ensure accurate ICD-9/ICD-10 and CPT coding for inpatient and outpatient encounters based on documentation in the electronic medical record, aligned with regulatory guidelines. You will perform data quality reviews to preserve data integrity and support revenue protection.

You will engage in quality review and performance improvement projects across the department, collaborating with HIM, CDMP, IT, and the Business Office.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in HIM/informatics program or equivalent experience.
• Five years of coding experience in inpatient, outpatient or professional coding.
• Proficiency with ICD-9-CM/ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS and CPT coding.
• Knowledge of EHR and imaging systems; strong data accuracy focus.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accuracy in code assignment for diagnoses and procedures.
• Participate in quality reviews, audits, and improvement projects.
• Query physicians to clarify diagnoses/procedures as needed.
• Maintain compliance with coding guidelines and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with HIM, CDMP, IT, and business offices to ensure data integrity.
