Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Coding Quality Auditor to ensure accurate diagnosis and procedure coding across outpatient and inpatient encounters. You will review data quality, support performance improvement projects, and collaborate with the coding team to maintain compliance with AHIMA guidelines.

The role requires an RHIT/RHIA/CCS or CPC credential as applicable, five years of coding experience, and strong knowledge of EMR systems and medical terminology.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in an AHIMA-accredited Health Information Management program required, or additional two years of related experience in lieu of degree.
• Five years of coding experience relevant to auditing (inpatient, outpatient, or professional coding) required.
• RHIT, RHIA, or CCS certification for inpatient/outpatient coding required; CPC for professional fee coding required.

Responsibilities

• Interact with coding team and HIM stakeholders to ensure coding accuracy and compliance.
• Assist with physician queries to obtain/clarify diagnoses and procedures; support DRG/APC assignment.
• Participate in quality reviews and data integrity audits; identify opportunities for improvements.
